For the third year running, the European Polycarbonate Sheet Extruders organised an award competition among its members so as to raise awareness of the benefits of polycarbonate in different application areas. There were three winners: Lansdowne Road Stadium in the Best Project and Innovation Award category; Centro Comercial Santafe in the Best Project category; and Bremer Weser Stadium in the Best Innovation category.

October 2009 marks the beginning of EuPC's REACH Club comprised of plastics experts from EuPC's network of plastics industry
associations. The Club's aim is to bring together people with serious knowledge of REACH and with responsibilities related to its implementation
in their companies. REACH, an EU Regulation obliging producers and importers to register their chemical substances and provide safety information,
has been particularly thorny for the plastics industry.
REACH Club Press Release
REACH Article 37 prescribes that downstream users have to provide information to their suppliers on their uses. By the end of November 2009, plastics converters must by law make their uses known to their suppliers so that these uses are taken into account in the Chemical Safety Assessments of the substances manufacturers and are identified. Provided that converters inform their suppliers sufficiently in advance of that date, substances manufacturers will have to consider those uses in their registration dossier. Should they not support that use, it will then still be time for the converter to make its own chemical safety report for a "non supported use". It is very important that these cases are reduced to the minimum. This can only be achieved through a common approach.
EuPC and EPSE are ready to assist member companies in this task.
