Bruges 2002 happening
Japanese architect Toyo Ito designed a spectacular pavilion for Brugge 2002 happening: a floating bridge under a square, light and airy aluminium honeycomb construction. This construction was clad on the outside with polycarbonate sheets, as a protection against the elements. This would have been impossible in glass, since glass would have been unable to withstand possible shifting of the honeycomb construction, in addition to being too heavy.
