sound barriers

Motorways can generate excessive noise pollution. Sound barriers help to keep the noise down to a minimum, but unfortunately they are non-transparent and tend to create a tunnel effect.

Transparent sections in concrete walls help to alleviate this problem. Polycarbonate is particularly suitable for use in sound barriers:

  • It acts as a sound insulator so that the effect of the barrier is not diminished
  • excellent optical clarity
  • low weight – only half that of glass of the same thickness. An important element in structures such as bridges, whereby the weight has to be kept to a minimum
  • virtually unbreakable – vandal proof.
